Pulchella video clip....

Drosera Pulchella leaf opening

Notes: The leaf took several hours over the course of a day to open.If you look carefully at the above clip you will see the mucilage on the leaves starts from heavy then goes to light (at midday) and then increases again in the afternoon. This may be an adaptation the pygmy drosera have to conserving water as the midday sun is intense in their environment.Or it may simply be an evaporative phenomenon. This would suggest that insects are not captured much around the middle of the day by the plants.
